HELPING EMPOWER YOUTH (HEY!) Celebrates GivingTuesday with the launch of their GOFUNDME campaign, joining millions around the world participating in the global generosity movement on December 1, 2020
Atlanta, GA November 27, 2020 – This GivingTuesday, HELPING EMPOWER YOUTH will inspire generosity by sharing stories of impact, service, innovation and inspiration.
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and their world. GivingTuesday will kick off the generosity season this year by inspiring people to give back on December 1, 2020, and throughout the year.
HEY! is participating in GivingTuesday in order to raise money to help inspire, motivate and mobilize young people to take action to change their world. These funds will help our Sport for Good - STEAM Academy and the formal launch of our Youth Business Incubator within the Empowered! Leadership Academy.
Through in-school, after-school, community programs, youth leadership, workforce development and entrepreneurship, and our Let’s Read! Book Festival, our goal is to challenge youth to claim, prepare, and take action, ensuring a positive, successful, and impactful future.
We don’t believe that our young people need to sit and wait for the leadership baton to be passed to them; it’s time for them to start running and take it!
GivingTuesday was launched in 2012 as a simple idea: to create a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
GivingTuesday has raised billions of dollars for critical causes around the world and gets 21 billion impressions on social media from people and organizations speaking up for the causes that matter to them and encouraging others to get involved in their communities.

About HELPING EMPOWER YOUTH (HEY!)
HEY! was created to cultivate, encourage and mentor young people in Metro Atlanta to identify and meet the needs of their ever changing world.
With this in mind, HEY! has created two primary initiatives to address those needs, Sport For Good S.T.E.A.M. Academy and the HEY! Let's Read! Book Festival for Children of Color. Our current needs based initiative is focused on the ATL Water Boyz. In 2019, HEY! also introduced their collaboration with Built For This to provide Mental Health First Aid training for those adult leaders who serve young people in schools, churches and communities.
